To Raise Funds for Fe y Alegría.

The event will be held on March 24th at The Forest Club with live music, food,
open bar and a silent auction with impressive pieces of art

Houston, February 1st, 2018.-  300 Venezuelans and friends of Venezuela will gather at The Forest Club on March 24th for a Soirée Under the Stars: A Night for a Brighter Venezuela to raise funds for Fe y Alegría, a non-profit organization devoted to empowering impoverished communities through integral education.

“We are excited to transform The Forest Club into a space where colorful food, music, and dancing come together and where our 300 guests will have the opportunity to participate in a lively fundraising auction,” said Carolina Domínguez, Co-Chair of this event organized by Friends of Fe y Alegría in The United States.

Tickets for this unique event “Houston Gathers Under the Stars” are being sold at one.bidpal.net/forabrightervenezuela. The $175 price per ticket includes open bar, food, live music and DJ, and the opportunity to participate in a silent auction.

According to Domínguez, those who are not able to attend the Soirée Under The Stars, but want to participate can make their tax-free donations via one.bidpal.net/forabrightervenezuela . “This is a great opportunity not only for Houstonians, but for all Texans and US residents, to donate and help these marginalized communities in Venezuela.”

The extensive list of artwork being auctioned includes pieces from artists Lara Alcántara, María Antonieta Arnal, Juan González Bolívar, Roberto Borberg, Ramón Chirinos, Mariana Copello, Luisa Duarte, Onofre Frías, Ángel Miere, Ana Margarita Ramírez, Rayma, Alberto Riera, Humberto Salas, Albert Sánchez, Sylvia Troconis, and Diego Vallenilla, among others. This was possible thanks to the support of Bag Online Art Gallery and Voga & More.

In addition, they will be auctioning one week of sleep-away camp at Camp La Llanada-Texas, hotel packages including The Houstonian, jewelry and apparel by Venezuelan designers, theater tickets, Astros tickets, spas and treatments, catered parties, and dinners at our local restaurants including Masraff’s, BCN and Taste of Texas.

“By participating in this Soirée Under the Stars you will be able to help Fe y Alegría in the midst of the deepening humanitarian and social crisis Venezuela is facing. Today, in Venezuela basic goods such as food and medicines are increasingly unavailable or unaffordable, and more than one million children no longer attend school mostly due to hunger and lack of public services,” said Domínguez.

“With our sponsors and the Houstonians support, Fe y Alegría hopes to expand their Meals at School program to provide students with daily breakfast and lunch, while also improving school facilities. Together, we can improve the lives and education of 345,000 low-income students in Venezuela.”

Fe y Alegría was founded in Venezuela in 1955 by Father José María Velaz, S.J. in a Caracas slum and has since then transformed into one of the largest low-resource education organizations in the world. Today, its educational network reaches over 1.5 million students throughout 21 countries.

Fe y Alegría believes in education as a powerful tool for social change, and is committed to promote inclusive programs for people living in impoverished and marginalized communities. Fe y Alegría begins where paved roads end.
